Happy New Year and welcome to 2026! Wishing you all well as we prepare for another trip into interdimensional space on this rock we call Earth, orbiting a giant ball of fire we affectionately refer to as the sun.

Firstly, a quick update on what I wrote in my last blog: I’ve reduced procrastination and scrolling. Yes, folks, I’m now officially a procrastination ninja! This has made a huge difference to my well-being and overall outlook, so I thought I’d share that with you. A massive shoutout to everyone who’s sent kind words of support and encouragement through this journey; I can’t thank you enough. So, a massive thank you! And if you’re still procrastinating, just remember: every second spent scrolling is a second you’ll never get back—unless you find a time machine, in which case, I want in!

Now that we’ve gotten the formalities out of the way, let’s get down to the serious business of MUSIC. It’s been an action-packed year, which has meant I’ve not been able to dedicate as much time to it as I would have liked. But hey, better late than never, right? Just like that pizza delivery that arrives cold but still manages to taste amazing!

So, what’s all of this about then? It’s about a brand new concept I’ve come up with to share my passion for all sorts of music and ultimately mixes with you. After all, the name is in the title, right? - Mixblog = a blog of my DJ mixes.

The idea is a simple one, harking back to a time when it was about getting together with my pals and having a good old mix down on a Friday night. We’d gather at someone’s yard armed with a bag of fresh vinyl bangers and get a blend on. There weren’t any rules—any genre, tempo, vibe, whatever—anything goes! Just mix, see where it goes, and bants, loads of bants. We’d mix until the sun came up or until the neighbors had enough and would start hammering down the door like they were auditioning for a horror movie. For the record, no neighbors were ever harmed in the process of telling us to turn it off—though a few did lose their sanity!

D&B and Techno were the usual ingredients, but we’d tangent off into all sorts of other genres and tempos. Those Friday Night blends gave me a real appreciation for dance music as a whole. Most of it I liked, some of it I even came to love—though I still find myself occasionally trying to recall tracks from those sessions that would pop into my head, kind of like a musical game of hide and seek. Some I’ve found, others remain buried deep in my memory or on now-archived session recordings.

Anyway, we move from past into present, from old to new—let’s not forget that nothing stays the same! And with that in mind, this is what Friday Night Spinners is all about. Now, I can’t promise that I’ll be doing this every week because, you know, life. But the idea is to fire up the decks on a Friday night and see what happens. All the mixes in this series are recorded live—no re-edits, no pre-planned mixes, just mix and go where the vibe takes me. You’ll hear the full repertoire of musical tastes and tempos. I might even grace your ears with multi-genre mixes—let’s see what happens!
